Recently I went to shut off email forwarding on my wife’s hosting account and was confused by what should be a simple task become a stressful decision. Below is a screen shot of the choices I had that would allow me to shut off email forwarding.
What would be your next step to shut off email forwarding? Let me know what you think. Also, I decided to email the company’s tech support to see what they would say. They emailed me instructions that were old and didn’t work. The first step in the instructions was to pick a menu choice that no longer existed because they’ve updated their site. 🙂 Nice.
But more importantly, this is a great example of horrible UI (User Interface) design. If you click on the “Cancel Account” button, will that cancel email forwarding or cancel your who email account all together? If I click on the “Email Forwarding Account” link will that take me to a screen to shut off email forwarding? Let’s look.
Now what would you click on? Remember, we want to shut off email forwarding. If you click on “Manage Account”, you’re taken to a screen to manage some attributes of your email account. There is no place on the screen to stop email forwarding. Maybe clicking the check box and clicking on the “Cancel Account” button will do it or again, will it cancel that particular email account all together and you’ll lose all your email? YIKES!! What do you think? Are we having fun yet? Jeepers Wally!!
